Before UGK hooked up with Jay-Z for the massive hit ‘Big Pimpin’ in 1999, not too many people outside of the Southern realm were onto the duo. What followed was a boost in their celebrity along with the tragic death of Chad “Pimp C” Butler back in 2007.

But his partner in rhyme, Bernard “Bun B” Freeman has more then kept the spirit of Pimp C alive as well as the UGK name with his solo albums, and he’s back at it with his third record in Trill O.G.

(more after break)

With Bun B being an OG in Hip-Hop, his respect stretches beyond boarders, as people such as T-Pain, Drake, Young Jeezy, Trey Songz, Yo Gotti, Twista, Gucci Mane, Slim Thug, and plenty more come out to lend a hand. Trill O.G. also has verses from Pimp C and some guy named Tupac Shakur, (maybe you heard of him).

After J. Prince introduces him on ‘Chuuuch,’ Bun takes the reigns and uses the organs in the backdrop to solidify his resume. T-Pain then adds his flavor on ‘Trillionaire,’ while Young Jeezy drops in on Drumma Boy-produced ‘Just Like That.’ Drake loans a hook and verse to ‘Put It Down,’ while Boi-1da takes care of the boards.

From there, Trey Songz, Tupac, and Pimp C all join in together on ‘Right Now,’ where the opposite sex is the subject at hand. Bun B finally goes feature-less on songs like ‘Lights Camera Action,’ the powerful sounds of ‘I Git Down For Mine,’ ‘Snow Money,’ and the DJ Premier-produced ‘Let ‘Em Know.’

But Bun B throws more added guests on songs like ‘Countin Money’ (feat. Yo Gotti and Gucci Mane), ‘Speakeasy’ (feat. Twista), and ‘Ridin’ Slow (feat. Slim Thug and Play-n-Skillz).

The end, Trill O.G. is another solid edition to the foundation Bun B created with his previous works such as Trill and II Trill. The only thing that brings down the value of Trill O.G. is the overuse of features, as Bun B only has a handful of songs where he handles all three verses by his lonesome (including the deluxe edition also).

But other than that, Trill O.G. is still a project worth getting into, especially when it’s coming from one of the most respected people in the game.
