For their sixth-studio album, Nappy Roots decided to venture off and take their sound to another level while still managing to keep that humble, soulful sound that fans have come to expect and love from the Kentucky-natives.

Behold The Pursuit Of Nappyness, a 16-track, full-length album comprised of real, true-to-heart lyrics over big, bold production that’s sure to captivate anyone who’s into good music. The first track “Welcome To The Show” sets the tone and indeed welcomes listeners into Nappy Roots’ world of truth, success, failure, redemption, and simply enjoying life.

Stand out songs like the infectious “Fishbowl”, feel-good “Be Alright”, and playful, bouncy “Infield” among others makes for an easy listen all the way through. However, A minor set-back of Nappyness is the up-tempo “Right Place” that might be a little too overbearing for die-hard Nappy fans but another up-tempo joint “Paint A Picture” comes in to make up for it and save the day.

Throughout the album, amidst the poignant rhymes, nod-worthy beats, and fun energy; a positive message dominates and rings true as heard on the twangy yet soulful “Back Home” that presents the practical fact that when the world gets too cold, “you can always come back home”.

Described by the group as their best and most honest work to date, Nappyness is just that: genuine and pure. Overall, Nappy’s efforts this-go-round is strong, solid, and carefree. Never do you get a hint that any song was forced or manufactured beforehand, just good people making good music. So escape from the world for awhile without leaving your morals and values behind and follow Nappy Roots on their Pursuit Of Nappyness. In stores now.
