Looks like Big Boi’s upcoming album, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, is actually underway with the video for “Fo Yo Sorrows” featuring Too $hort and the legendary George Clinton.

Aired on PBS this week, the fascinating documentary Copyright Criminals explored the method of sampling in the world of hip-hop, posing the question if a “borrowed melody” can in fact be owned compared to actual lyrics. Showcasing music greats such as Public Enemy, De La Soul, DJ Spooky, Digital Underground, George Clinton and funky drummer Clyde Stubblefield (James Brown’s drummer and the world’s most sampled musician), Copyright takes a look at sampling from the beginning of a humble hip-hop in the early 1980’s to the multibillion-dollar industry of today.
